Irregular Warfare Initiative

The Journal of Strategic Competition is an open access, peer-reviewed academic journal. It is a product of the Irregular Warfare Initiative (IWI), a community-driven platform dedicated to advancing the study and practice of irregular warfare. IWI serves as a forum for professionals and scholars to engage in substantive dialogue on the challenges and opportunities in the national security landscape.

As the focus of national security shifts, IWI identified a need for rigorous research on how states and non-state actors engage in strategic competition. The Journal of Strategic Competition was created to fill this gap by publishing cutting-edge research that addresses the complex interplay of topics related to competition.

Our mission is to provide a platform for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to explore the evolving nature of global competition and foster insights that can shape future strategies and decisions.
